PUBLIC WARNING SYSTEM

GENERAL WARNING SIGNALS

1. THREAT WARNING - a steady two-minute siren sound warns of the impeding threat of high water levels, fire, environmental and other disasters. Turn on the radio or television, follow the emergency information and act in accordance with the instructions!

2. IMMINENT THREAT - a wailing minute-long siren sound warns of the risk of a flood, major fire, radiological or chemical hazard, threat of a military attack or other types of threat. Turn on the radio or television, follow the emergency information and act in accordance with the instructions!

3. END OF THREAT - a steady 30-second siren sound; this signal must always be used to mark the end of the threat which caused the imminent threat signal to be sounded. Follow information broadcast on the radio and television.

The testing of sirens takes place every first Saturday of the month at noon. The signal corresponds to the signal for the end of threat.

SPECIAL LOCAL SIGNALS

1. IMMINENT THREAT OF A CHLORINE ACCIDENT - siren sound which lasts 100 seconds (it starts with a wailing 30-second siren sound followed by a steady 40-second siren sound, followed by another 30-second wailing sound) is used in the event of a threat of chlorine leaks into the environment.

Use personal protective equipment. Proceed immediately to a location at a higher altitude and upwind.

The signal for imminent threat of a chlorine accident is in use in the municipalities of Hrastnik and Trbovlje.

2. IMMINENT THREAT OF A FLOOD WAVE - a wailing 100-second siren sound (4-second siren sound intervals interrupted by 4 seconds of silence) is used in the event of the overflow or collapse of a hydroelectric dam.

Leave the area at risk immediately and move above the marked possible level of the flood wave.

This special signal is in use in the municipalities of Muta, Vuzenica, Podvelka, Radlje od Dravi, Brežice, Krško and Sevnica.
